William HETHERINGTON (1828-1900) took his family to Brisbane, Queensland in
1879. His second eldest son, John William HETHERINGTON (b.1860, Brancepeth, DUR)
was to develop a Mine Safety Hook circa 1895, used in the Ipswich mines in
Queensland. It is possible that John's brother, James Stephenson HETHERINGTON
and Robert SMELLIE may have perished in a mine accident in Queensland in Sept
1898. If anyone has details on the above families, I would be thrilled to hear
